Hello everyone! I have been unfortunately dealing with a great deal of small flies in my bonsai😰 with online research, i tried the yellow fly trap sticky which works great (as shown!) but not enough as there are still many of those small flies flying around. I now have flies in my neighbouring orchid so im afraid i have contaminated my other plants😓 I have a moisture meter in the bonsai to ensure the soil i not too wet, i water it from the bottom and doing everything to avoid moisture but the flies keep multiplying!!! Any advice??? 🤞🏼

Hello! I’ve heard that watering a mix of nematodes into the soil can help kill the eggs and hatching larvae so that way the sticky paper will kill the adults and the nematodes will take out the continuing generations

Interesting! I was planning on starting off with a hydrogen peroxide/water spray, i had never heard of nematodes! Thanks for the advice 🤗

Yeah that could work too! Although the bio pesticides might work better long term and be easier to set and forget. Of course! 😊

You can spray with a soapy Dawn dish water solution. Continue to spray at least once a week until the gnats are gone. It can take weeks for a large infestation. Isolate the uninfected plants. I spray every new plant with a soapy water and isolate it for 2 to 4 weeks. You can water with Mosquito Bits diluted in water. Mosquito Bits contains the beneficial bacteria Bti that kills the larvae in the soil ending the lifecycle. Water every time with it. 🍀🪴
