My neon pothos has been suffering from brown spots for about 6 months now, and just today I saw a small, dark bug on it (first pic towards the base of the bottom leaf) 😬 sorry the pic of the bug isn’t good, it was moving fast lol. Anyone know what sort of pest could be causing this? I’m paranoid of thrips but it doesn’t really look like thrips to me. The third pic has a picture of a weird bumpy leaf which I thought might help ID. Thanks!

Could be aphids.. do you see any webbing on the plant anywhere, if so then spider mites. Either way take your plant spray leaves down really good with insecticidal soap, rinse it off, then spray plant and soil really good with neem oil… if that doesn’t fix issue then clean each leaf front and back with 70% alcohol with a cotton ball then spray plant really good with neem oil

They don’t really look like aphids, and I didn’t see any webbing either. I’ve never dealt with aphids, although I’m familiar with spider mites. I’ll probably clean it like you recommend though. Thanks for the advice!

Make sure when you treat your plant with neem oil it’s not in the sun because it will burn your foliage

If there was just one bug I doubt that is a problem. I would do a preventative spray of either neem or horticultural oil. You could also apply a systemic to the pot if you wish. All of this would be preventative. If you choose to spray with neem, do not spray in the Sun because your plant leaves could burn and it's best to spray morning or early afternoon to allow time for the leaves to dry.

Good point! I’m just worried because the new leaves keep coming out with holes and brown spots

I'm not sure why they would be doing that. Maybe the humidity is too low and the leaves are getting damaged as they unfurl?
