Any idea what would cause this? I just bought this monstera from Home Depot and one leaf is super flimsy and thin feeling with black edges and then another leaf is twisted over on itself. I haven’t taken it out of its nursery out to inspect yet as im a newbie and wanted advice before I did anything. The top of the soil feels moist/dry but feeling in the hole at the bottom of the pot the soil feels wet.

it’s probably rotting — get it out of the pot, remove as much of the old soil & bad roots as you can, treat bacteria with peroxide, and get it into something more well draining. at the least, potting soil with extra perlite — at best a chunkier mix with bark, coco coir/chunks, perlite

Was it left in the car at all for a period of time in the heat?

Okay it could very well be in shock I would give it some time. I had something similar happen to plants I got that were left in car for a period of time Over time I trimmed away the burned leaves as new ones grew in :)

would it matter at all that the black part is soft like the leaves and not the crunchy dry burnt feel?

I wonder if it would do any harm to trim off that black edge? Thank you for your input!! 🤍 I’ve been posting on groups for days and not getting any response so I appreciate it

The floppy one is a new growth. The black looks like sunburn or high heat burn. The new tender leaves are susceptible to temperature shifts especially if they sit in a hot car 2 hours, then, go into a cooler air conditioned environment. That can make it droop. Additionally, car windows act like a magnifying glass to concentrate heat and light on plants left in cars. The plant will need time to adjust in a new environment to get rid of the floppy condition. Place it in a location with very bright indirect light or an east or west facing window and leave it there. Water when the soil dries out. Fertilize every 2 weeks with 50 percent diluted fertilizer in the warm months. The black on the leaves will die off. I would not cut off the entire damaged leaf. It still helps with photosynthesis. 🍀🪴
