HhhhhheeeeeEeeEEeyyyyy guysssss. Is this plant dead? Or is he just being dramatic? Hes hella crispy. But I've been watering him. Should I cut off all the crispy leaves and let him grow anew if there's still a chance he's alive? Or should I call it quits with this one. I swear he was alive a week ago

      It's a purple pitcher plant!

It’s got green left so it’s still alive it looks burnt or severely under-watered. I’d give it a literal shower. That’s what I did to my Christmas cactus, even though it doesn’t need a lot of water when a plants super dehydrated it needs a drench.

I soaked it for hours in my sink. I suppose I can resoak him on his leaves. I realized that I've placed him next to a heater and that might have shriveled him...

Duuuuude dont soak it for longer than maybe 10 minutes is good. Since its a small plant, If you drained it for longer , I think you legit drowned it out. Just let it dry near fan . Feel the soil out and DONT WATER ANYMORE water only by topping off the top soil, that’s it. Should be no more than 50mls of water in your case

hi! make sure youre using the purest water you have access to!! that means rain, distilled or RO water. carnivorous plants hate more than 50 ppm of minerals, chemicals, or fertilizer in the water. i have a sarracenia (american pitcher plant) as well, and he's currently outside, sitting in a dish of distilled water. these guys can tolerate frosts, and need the colder temps during winter to go into dormancy. i highly highly recommend checking out the care pages on sarracenia northwest (website). they have a bunch of super good info on there. hope your guy is able to pull through, good luck!! ps. these guys need a lot of light - min of 6hrs of direct light for the happiest plants :)

Thank you so much for the info! Yeah I've definitely not been giving this guy what he needs. I figured he wouldn't want to be out in the cold Canada weather haha but if he insists.

Just don't toss him out in the cold, since it wasn't hardened off to it. You can keep it dormant inside, just find a cooler darker spot. Then move it back to full sun in spring. Sarracenia purpura is actually native to Canada and northern US. So it can definitely withstand the cold 🥶

They should just be in a dish of water, it's a bog plant. No tap water, rain or distilled. It's probably a dual issue of not enough water and also lower light levels bringing on dormancy.

You can save this one by letting it drain in soft water for about 5-8minutes and let it drain out from excess water. It’s a great plant in great health but it looks stunted by stress of maybe excess heat and sun maybe left out to be forgotten. You got this! Barely open a water hose on the outside brim of soil, not at the base where the roots are so you don’t drown it. Have the water drain on it and sit back and wait . It is important to take note of a strict water cycle if you are. After you had watered it down for about 8 minutes the next watering cycle should be when you finger the soil away from the base. And it should feel dry to touch from the first knuckle on your index finger. Simply top the vase with water by water bottle. That you see the water drop down with no issue. If you don’t see the water drop down and flush with a little water, Then you have a drainage problem, make sure to flush water using water hose on bottom of drainage holes for a couple seconds so you can get your drainage loose and back 👋🏻👍🏻 Hope I could help Make sure you top the soil off not drench the poor.
