i have a chinese money plant sitting in my window, i water it when the soil is dry and it gets direct sunlight for about 5 hours-ish. it used to be healthy in those conditions now it tends to only hold one or two small leaves before they fall off the main stem. what should i do?

Do you have any photos? How do the leaves look when they fall off? I can’t say for sure, but it’s possible that it’s actually getting too much direct light if it’s afternoon light from a west or south facing window. If the leaves looked pale, bleached, crispy, or had brown or translucent patches or even tiny holes in them, then it probably is leaf drop from too much direct sun. In that case, I’d move it next to an east-facing window if you have one or add a sheer curtain to a south or west facing window for it. If you don’t think it’s too much direct sun, my next step personally would be to take the plant out of its pot and check on the roots to see what they look like. I’d look for any signs of dead roots, rotted/mushy roots, severe root binding, or hydrophobic soil. I’d also rule out pests just to be safe. If you have any photos of the plant and the leaves that fall off, I might be able to guess more accurately at the issue.
