Hi! My staghorn fern just arrived today and doesn’t look it’s in good condition. It had a yellow leaf which I cut off but some other leaves still have brown spots and is brown near the roots(?). I’m not sure if I should cut them out in case this fern has a fungus disease and would spread to the other leaves. This sucks because it’s a small plant and doesn’t have a lot of leaves 🥲 Thanks in advance for the advice. tl;dr: does my staghorn fern have a fungus disease and should I cut the leaves that have brown spots/lines on them? (please see photo)

Yes definitely cut it off. Spray the plant with neem oil. If it’s a fuzzy fern, DONT wipe (it’s not actually attached to the plant). If it’s not fuzzy, go ahead and wipe the excess off. Treat it like any other new plant and separate it from your others and water with insecticide. If the spot reappears on another leaf, then be a bit more cautious but it could be stress from the travel. I know Arbor makes good insecticide and disease treatments.

Thank you so much for the advice!! I cut some leaves off and applied some pesticide so hopefully it will survive!
