Did you pull that root out of the pot or was it growing like that
0 Me gustait came like that unfortunately, i was given it by a food bank, so alot of their stuff is old/on its way out, however its such a beautiful plant so id really like to keep it alive

In that case the plant is likely fine! I think that since the root is growing out of the pot it’s probably just not getting any water. The other roots look fine in the back. Honestly either just cut that root or move it back into the pot
4 Me gustaOh that’s great to hear, tysm!!
0 Me gustaYep that’s an aerial root. They can absorb moisture from the air. The substrate does look quite dense so I’d recommend switching it out for just orchid bark. Orchids need to dry out and are pretty drought tolerant, so it’s better for them to be on the dry side. Just water when the roots look silvery rather than green.
2 Me gustaThat might be fine, as long as it’s able to fully dry out between watering. I like the brand BetterGro
1 me gustaOk thank you!! i think this will suffice for now until i can get some better quality substrate next week, i appreciate the advice🫶
