Anyone know how to remove millipedes from houseplants? I had removed some a week after first buying a plant and thought they were gone, until I checked before watering one day and found more and there were babies. I hate bugs and it gives me sleep terrors at night knowing bugs are in my room (my plants are in my bedroom).

What are millipedes? Are they white dots?

Millipedes are insects that can invade your plants or home. They aren't harmful to plants unless the soil is dry, then they will feed on the roots. But if left unkempt they could multiply and spread to other plants or parts of the home.

Oh wow! They sound annoying. I wonder how they can get inside your home.

They arrive in the plant from the nursery and spread to other plants. They can come inside when plants are stored for winter. I’ve only had a few. I found them under the bottom of pots. I just scoop them and toss them into the yard. You can change the soil if you have to verify they are gone for your mental health. 🍀🪴

I'd like to change the soil but my plant is currently blooming, so I'd like to cause less stress to it for now. Although if it means that in the end for me I might do so. Was hoping someone had ideas besides that, that also work 😓

What about a total drenching with bottom watering. Let the pot sit in the water for an hour or so. I would think that would force them to the surface.

Battling this right now too. Just noticed earlier this week when bottom watered my calathea. Must have brought them home from nursery.

I know I brought mine from the nursery because it's one of my first plants. But nothing on the web ever told me of this 😭 just the common pests. Hope your situation improves too!
