So I keep finding sticky plants and I've had mealys on some already so I decided not to even bother googling which plans I could put the neem oil or the diluted alcohol solution on, I decided to spray the crap out of all of my well over 100 houseplants with DE for a few weeks, I used that little accordion blower thing to get all the nooks and crannies and the pots especially the terracotta ones my God 😭 now they look like they have a thick layer of cocaine on them 🙄 I sure hope this works so do I leave it on for 2 weeks like Google said? Will it photosynthesize okay still or is this going to affect the health of my plan having a layer of powder on them 🤷‍♀️ I'm so sad.. someone tell me it's going to be okay LOL 🙏🧡

Oh dang. Be careful with that much DE. As it shouldn't be inhaled, it can harm lungs. I would wipe off the leafs, as any dust or obstruction can hinder photosynthesis

But if I wipe off the leaves the bugs won't die 😭 yeah I know definitely not good to inhale definitely did it outside I'm only halfway done my tropical plants I haven't even touched well I put name oil on my parlor palm, my braided money tree, and my ponytail palm so far they're all right with the neem oil, I don't know about all my other beautiful tropical plants on the react to neem oil or if I should just DE them? You know like the anthurium, the caladiums, the pepperomias , monsteras, spidey's,... If I leave it on them for a couple days is that enough time to kill them?

I agree with Wolfen. The stuff can be bad for your lungs. You should be wearing a mask when using that much DE.

Neem isn't very effective on scale bugs, especially adults. So hopefully the DE will kill the adults for you.

For mealy bugs on succulents/cacti you can spray the plant down with straight isopropyl alcohol and let it evaporate. I can also give a nuclear pesticide recommendation that’ll wipe them out completely forever.

Do you rinse off the alcohol after it evaporates like say 5-10 minutes? Because I did that with my variegated baby sunrose and it pretty much killed the majority of the plant I've got two little spreads that are fighting like hell to stay alive and a cup of water 😭

I’ve sprayed cacti and never wiped it off personally but you can add water and dish soap as well to dilute it to make it safer.

Nuclear option is BioAdvanced Tree And Shrub Protect And Feed. Now I’ve not used it on succulents (only tropical houseplants) so you’d have to call and ask the company, but one dose lasts a year and it will kill all the mealy bugs quickly and easily.

Wow Botanical Bekka you are going to be worn out after all this work. As a preventative, try using systemic Bonide. It’s not 100% effective, but reduces the pest problem dramatically. I treat all my plants about every two months when I water them. Currently at 160 plants.

We wont talk about what im up to lol. Systemic is a good option. I'd honestly release some lace wings or lady bugs in my house before DE 😆 🤣 but im crazy like that

Is that the same as the captain Jack's copper stuff? Cuz I have that?

I got a lot of tropicals and a lot of succulents

No, it's a sprinkle for the top of the soil, that soaks into the plant, and kills the bugs when they try to snack on the plant. Basically makes the plant poisonous to pests.

Oh I am 1000% that person and I have released ladybugs in my house and my sunroom previously before I realized that ladybugs just like fireflies will kill my dragon 🐞😭😭🤦‍♀️🧡 but that would be so badass🦎

Okay Danii, I looked up the nuclear stuff now if it's a granular thing how does that get the bugs off of the leaves?
