Just got a monstera and its immediately drooping and developing brown spots. I did water it when i got it but soil seemed wet. Is it over watering? Also do i need to immediately get it into a different pot? The roots are sticking out

Looks like it could be overwatering, keep an eye out for pests, and keep it in iso. Do not repot just yet (unless you spot pests-if this is the case you will need to repot with baked soil to kill the pests). Repotting can cause even more shock to the plant.

Thanks. I figured its over watered i poked my fingers through the bottom of the nursery pot, and it was still a little moist yesterday. I only got it four days ago, and I’d love to keep it alive. It was only 20 bucks at the grocery store! I already cut off brown leaves that werent going to recover

Could be shot from moving environments. Always touch the soil first to see if it wet or not if it’s wet let it dry out. If not water it and put in well lit area. Can’t really judge repotting needs. I would say remove the plant from the pot to check the bottom of the soil and decide whether to repot soon not asap but soon because it’s again gonna shock the plant

So definitely just let it dry out but make sure it’s getting good light while it’s drying out. I had a few grocery store pickups and they are normally over watered or forgotten it’s not really a midpoint if you get that you’re lucky

I got a water meter off Amazon for about $10 and it made all the difference with watering correctly. Also, they do well with a lot of sunlight but it might need to get acclimated to it by gradually moving it closer to the window a little more each day.
