Is it normal for plants sprayed with neem oil to get this stringy look? I don’t see any bugs or other signs of pests, and only see this on the leaves that were sprayed with neem oil so wondering if it’s just a part of the spray coming off? For background: I sprayed the plants maybe a couple weeks ago with neem oil for preventative reasons to keep off any potential pests. They haven’t been a probably since I got them a couple months ago

Let me preface this by saying that not knowing exactly what plant that is, I'm not able to rule out some of the following possible explanations. First possibility is that some plants show their fibrous structure more than others. What you're seeing in these pics could just be strings of the plant. However, I've never seen a plant have any strings that are rigid like you show. Second possibility is while I've never seen neem oil, or any treatment, create strings as one of the product's inherent features. However, spraying a plant with anything will highlight webbing, dust, or fibrous strings on any plant. Think of a spider web in the rain. Third possibility, in your first pic that string you highlight looks way too thick for a mite web, but I also don't take any chances with those critters so any web on my plants is treated as if it were a mite web. You said you didn't see any, but did you use a magnifying glass and direct task lighting to look more closely? Try to keep all of that in mind as you check the plant again. Mite webs are definitely more visible and are seen often prior to noticing the actual mites. Hope you can figure it out. Definitely interested so let us know what happens.

Looks like the edge of the leaf stem shredded a bit when the new leaf emerged. Pull on the bits to see if it’s part of the plant. Neem oil wouldn’t leave ‘spider webs’ on the plant.

Thank you both for your responses!!!Sorry for the disgusting finger pic lol but I think you guys are right it’s from the plant. This is what I pulled off. Still haven’t seen any pests. It seems too thick to be a web. They are a Ti Plant and a Good Luck ‘Red Sister’ plant
