Can someone help me with my black magic elephant ear??? I’ve had such an issue with it since I’ve had it and I don’t know what to do at this point! I’ve had it inside and I woke up one day to half of the leaves being wilted off. I then plucked them and started over. Then, it got spider mites and I had to treat it for that. It ended up killing several of the leaves in the process of that. Now, as it’s been doing terribly inside, I’ve tried moving it to the porch to get a bit more light and it’s not improving. What am I doing wrong 😭 I have at least 40 plants and have never had such a temperamental one before!!

I would guess the roots are rotting as the potting mix isn’t airy enough.

Looks like a root problem to me. I would check for root and put it in a much chunkier soil

Hi! So I had soooo many issues with mine UNTIL I repotted it and realized it was in MUCH to big of a pot. I’d repot it, make sure it has a very well draining mix, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 potting soil, 1/3 orchid bark. Then put it in the sunniest spot you can outside :) that’s how the leaves turn black! I did all the above (minus outside, I live in NYC and just put mine under a strong grow light) and bam soooo much better. Hope that helps! Also with this type of plant, it will lose leaves all the time, don’t fret, that’s just how the plant works, but making sure it has enough sun, and getting watered (if outside probably every other day) and making sure the pot isn’t too big for the plant will be life changing 🙏🏽 hope that helps! I have 42 house plants so I can definitely guarantee that yours will get better ❤️
