Hi, I saw this on my monstera adansonii and immediately freaked out and sprayed a neem oil mix like crazy and took a paper towel to wipe up that spot. I didn’t see anything on the other leaves or elsewhere. I’ve been overall incredibly lucky with pests and never had an issue with this particular plant. Do you know what this pest is / how I should treat it (if it needs more than neem oil)? Thank you so much!!!
That looks like a mealy bug to me!! They tend to travel in packs so I’d recommend checking the undersides of leaves/where leaves meet the stem for any more. White powdery specks are the residue they leave behind. Other than that, neem oil mixed with a tough of rubbing alcohol does wonders!! You can also just dab individual bugs with hydrogen peroxide and they’ll die immediately. I wouldn’t be too worried if you only saw one!!

0 Mi piaceDefinitely mealy bugs. I’d also maybe examine those white dots down the center line. Hard to tell if those are babies or dust. When I had them on my calathea, I treated with a big spray bottle of water with a tablespoon or so of dish soap, and a cap full of alcohol. Get into the tight areas with the spray. I wiped down the leaves/stems every few days with alcohol on a cotton pad. Also wipe the rim of your pot too if possible. Would do it consistently for about a month. Don’t put the plant back with others until at least two weeks after your final treatment + make sure new ones aren’t hatching.
