What on earth are these little black things infesting my indoor jungle?! They’re on 2 plants and making their way onto my huge monstera. I’m panicking.

Looks like Thrips.
0 J'aimeThrips😔 try to keep the infected plants away from your other plants as the adults can fly! There are a few different ways to get rid of them so find what works best for you (insecticide, good bugs, using sellotape/lint roller to get rid of the adults) I’d also keep an eye out checking both sides of leaves and stems of any surrounding plants for the next few weeks just incase any may have laid eggs. Look out for yellow discolouration/ small black or yellow bugs (also the small circles are the adult poo which is a common tell-tale sign) 🌱🪳
1 j'aime😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 I’m currently vigorously wiping down my neighboring monstera with Castile-water mixture. As for the full infected philodendron should I take the moss pole out, spray & wipe the leaves and vines then shower her? And as for the soil, should I repot or just run Castile-water mixture through?
1 j'aimeI’d definitely use sellotape to get rid of the adults on your leaves first and Castile to wipe off any you didn’t see- then spray & wipe (don’t forget the stems) and then shower her just to be sure- maybe do this a few times over the next few weeks! I would take the moss pole out just so none get in there if it’s real moss I’m not sure if that may be food for thrips? If not I’d still take it out just while rinsing to make sure none of the pesky adults hide in it!
1 j'aimeThank you!! I’m on it 🏃♀️💨
0 J'aimeDisinfect your hands/tools after touching your plants. Thrips are tiny and easily travel to other plants on your hands and tools.
0 J'aimeI’ve been scrubbing like crazy and using disposable gloves. I’m considering a hazmat suit at this point😩
