I’m new to moisture loving cactus but can’t tell if this little darling is getting too much. Is the spots from overwatering?

It looks overwatered, or it's staying wet too long
2 J'aimeIt could be under watering or more likely too much direct sun (sun stress). Easy to fix, water it or move it. They also like to be misted.
1 j'aimeI mist it regularly and have had it under a grow light in a window all winter but all of a sudden I think several of my plants are getting too much light because the angle of the sun has changed with spring.
1 j'aimeHow often do you water? And how large is the pot?
0 J'aimeIt’s in the 4” nursery pot I bought it in. It is misted regularly but I don’t keep the soil sopping…just damp.
0 J'aimeIt’s likely staying too damp then, I have mines in a very small pot and water it heavily once a week. It normally is dry for day or two before I water again in my environment, and I personally don’t mist but that may vary based on where you live
0 J'aimeThose leaves seem very light. I would put them somewhere where more chlorophyll is needed. Another thing you can do it put it above the light, for example a hanger above a window or a high shelf, and the darkness in the leaves will start to return as the plant works for more light. The hairs on the tips of the leaves could also mean it wants to bloom, but can't for some reason. Hope this helps!
0 J'aimeKeep in mind that these cacti are epiphytes. They grow in trees in a rainforest. Keep in mind where they are happiest.
0 J'aimeDid not know this! Will they grow bare root? I have all my Phalaenopsis orchids growing bare root and they thrive.
0 J'aimeI've never tried that, sounds interesting. What is the soil like for your Thanksgiving cactus? Should be pretty chunky and well draining. An orchid soil would be good. Just needs to be well draining.
