My chinese evergreen has a new leaf which i’m so excited about bc it had gotten & recovered from mealy bugs but now the new leaf is turning brown at the base. Anyone know what’s happening?

I’ve seen this happen to me if my plant isn’t getting enough water (either the soil was hydrophobic or the plant had root rot) The turgid pressure from being well-watered helps the plant unfurl the leaves quickly and if they stay closed too long they can get brown like that. Make sure it’s watered and mist the leaf as much as you can!

I try to mist my plants that are pushing out new leaves, to avoid any mechanical damage. Pests can also cause a similar look, but if you haven't seen any in a bit, it's probably just humidity
