Hey guys, so my friend gave me a cutting of her jade plant. Are these scales?? Or is it just natural bruising? Debating whether to keep it or not. I can rub them off but it damages the leaf so I’m unsure. Thanks in advance.

There might have just been times when the plant didn’t get enough water/nutrients it needed. They are also the oldest leaves and with it being a cutting I suggest removing the bottom 2/3 and propagate in water to grow some healthy roots for soil!

1 mi piaceI've seen other jade plants do this thing where they develop brownish or grayish tissue where they've been damaged... I agree that you can remove these leaves anyway so it'll be fine. It looks like a nice cutting; I hope you enjoy your jade plant!
