House Plant Honey

Hello my plant peeps. I’m needing to chop & prop my beloved Fiddle Leaf fig. When chopping & propping Fiddy, should I let the cut end callous over before putting it in water? Or put it water right away? Or put it right in dirt (what kind? Dry? Moist?) Thank you!!!

callus! i’d put in water and let roots grow a couple of inches. fertilize ever so often. (you can also do more than one prop and try another way if others suggest) good luck! share updates

definitely let it callus first so it doesn't rot while you try to propagate it! A couple options you could try would be classic water propagation, or if thats not working you could plant it in perlite / fluval stratum and water. Some plants like that better. Depending on how much time you have, you could also give air layering a shot, but it takes a while and you wouldnt be able to cut the stem right away.

Update on the roots of the top half for y’all!!! The leaves wilted at first & didn’t root in water for a few weeks, until I added some rooting powder!! I dipped the end in it & put it back in water…magic!! Do you think she’s ready to pot? If so, how big of a pot?
