This beautiful Milky Way Plant is flaming out. I see enough green in it to think I might be able to revive it. Does any one have any insight? Is this overwatering… or under? I want to stage an intervention for this stressed plant but I don’t know what to do. I threw a grow light on it out of desperation an hour ago.

1 gilla This decline happened while I was on vacation. There was a heat wave that took out another plant too. This one I have a tiny bit of hope for, but not sure I can doctor it effectively. I think it might have white mold on top of its other obvious problems.

I’m assuming it looked healthy before you left on vacation. If so, I’m guessing heat and dehydration are the primary issues. I recommend removing the dead foliage down to the soil. Keep those few green leaves for photosynthesis. Cast Iron plants typically recover unless the roots are completely dead. Check the roots to see if they are still alive. Remove all dead roots. Replace the soil. The white deposits on the soil could be salts or mineral deposits from the fertilizer or mold. New soil will help. Replace the pot. The straw basket will rot. The water stains in the drainage tray looks dark. You can use a plastic pot inside a ceramic outer pot. The grow light should help. 🪴🍀

Hey hey, I see lots of mites on your plant, which is common on these guys. I would just cut it all the way back, spray with a horticultural oil of choice, and throw it outside in the shade. Aspidistra*** is a really hardy shade perennial that can pretty much come back from death no matter what as long as it didn’t freeze.
