Hi Planta Colleagues! I don’t understand why my Areca Palm, after being ok for 1 year, has started browning at the tips - initially only a few leaves, but now all of them. It’s been repotted, proper drainage, watered regularly, close to north facing window, not other sick plant nearby, I can’t see any bugs 🔎… I’m clueless, can’t find the cause - maybe hard water (we’re in London). Any thoughts? 😇🙏

Has it been drier lately? Usually browning tips is low humidity

Could be low humidity indeed! My HVAC must be too efficient because the air is constantly at 35-45% humidity - is that too little? How often should I spray the palm? :)

I'd try misting it 1x a day or every other day, to see if it makes a difference. My ambients like 55-60% i mist my super humid lovers up to 2x a day. And the 'regular' humid lovers 1x. Everyone else gets every other day

Thanks so much Wolfen! I’ve started doing that. Will await results. Ofc since the ends are already dried, it’s hard to know if it gets better. I guess I should monitor if browning stops or progresses? Also would you trim the browned ends? ☺️

Personally I dislike lookin at the brown, but also like to keep track of it it's progressing, or if I'm not seeing any new browning. So I trim it down.
