WHAT IS THIS? My ficus, I should say my old friend, has been through four sequential sprays of neem interspursed with copper fungicide for scale. I thought that would be more than adequate, but I found a couple of scale spots just now and several leaves look like they have teeny transparent green holes in the leaf, not open holes though (see photograph).I’ve never noticed this before. Are these teeny holes I’m finding on the leaves indicative of scale returning? I HATE SCALE; it is such a pain in the tutu. Any help is appreciated. 😊💚🪴 PS If the long and the short of it is four more rounds of spray, I am worried about my ficus becoming immune to the spray???

I lost my beautiful ficus last year to scale. I got so fed up and worried it was going to spread to everything else I just threw him away. I regret it now cause it was from my mom’s funeral and was very sentimental. But I have heard from tanner the planter & a few others on tik tok to try bioadvanced tree & shrub protect and feed. You can get it at Home Depot etc. they swear by that stuff.

I’m so sorry you threw away your ficus, especially since it had such sentimental value to you. My ficus has had scale for years and it has been placed right next to several other plants, sometimes actually touching each other (at the time, I didn’t know any better🤨). For some reason, ficus must be predisposed to getting scale??? Since neem and copper fungicide have apparently controlled the scale, but not gotten rid of it, I will certainly go to Home Depot and get the “Bioadvanced Tree and Shrub Protect…”. TXS for your great post! PS And try another ficus in memory of your mom; there’s so many beautiful varieties out there, don’t just get the run of the mill variety. And, really, my ficus has been one of my easiest plants to grow, except for the “you know what” scale. 😍 😊💚🪴
