Hi everyone! I’m testing out some soil treatments for fungus gnats (I have sticky traps for the adults) and want to try steinernema feltiae nematodes. For those who have tried it, where can I order them online and are there specific brands that work well for you? Thanks! ☺️

I haven’t tried nematodes personally but wanted to mentioned that mosquito bits have been working really well, just in case you were looking for something easier to find :)

I have yet to need to try nematodes or mosquito bits for my fungus gnats, but I can recommend something easier to find: hydrogen peroxide. I use 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed with 2 parts water, reduce the plant to its roots, and if you can’t because it’s rootbound, then submerge it with the soil in the mixture, making sure it’s enough to soak the plant up to all of its soil, but not touching the leaves (the leaves won’t be harmed if it does tho). Soak it for 30 minutes in the solution, then rise the soil or the roots under room temperature water, and repot with new soil or let it dry out back in its pot. Hydrogen peroxide cleans the roots, improves oxygen absorption in the roots, and kills larvae and eggs. I would say though that if you really want the fungus gnats to stop coming back in your plant to reduce it to its roots and repot it completely. Then as preventative measures, bottom water your plants (if you haven’t tried that, it’s very easy and there’s instructions on how to do it on the Planta app!), sprinkling and spreading some cinnamon on the top of your fresh soil, and getting some sticky traps. I haven’t had an issue with them since after repotting completely and soaking them in the peroxide solution.

I switched to bottom watering my plants a couple weeks ago and I’m using sticky traps which are really working! I’ll try this too if I get annoyed enough lol. Thank you!
