Hi! Is my peace lily too far gone to save?? I’m a new plant owner and my peace lily has been thriving for a while, but it needed to be repotted. After repotting, it began to droop badly and die. I realized the pot didn’t have a drainage hole, so the app told me to switch to a pot that did. I then switched it to a pot with a drainage hole, and ever since has DRASTICALLY gotten much worse. Is there anything I can do to save it?! TIA!

Did you water it right after you replant it? Plants usually go into shock when replanted so usually it’s necessary to wait a few days to water if not it can get really bad root rots

Ugh I think I did water it. I’ll have to check for root rot

In my experience, not watering right after repotting is what will send most plants into shock because there are air pockets around their roots. Watering once shouldn’t cause root rot as it is a gradual thing. If the dirt holds too much water or has no drainage like the previous pot did, then sure. But if the plant doesn’t already have root rot, watering it should help settle the dirt around the root. I have no experience with this specific plant though, so maybe this plant is different?

Definitely remove any brown or yellow leaves, because they won’t be any good at this point.

check the roots. if the roots aren’t mushy and brown, prune what is rotted/yellow and place in water until more roots grow

The plant as everyone is saying is adjusting to a new owner, location, and pot. Use “Superthrive”…I’ve used this whenever I get new plants, repotted plants, and even when reviving plants. It works

My peace lily looks something like this. It’s never flourished since I brought it home it actually got worse. Someone told me it was because I had it directly under an A/C vent and when I moved it it started to look better. But it’s back to looking pitiful. I am going to check for root rot and change the soil. Thanks to all that responded to this. And thanks for posting Hailey
