any hope for this guy?? my moms sending me home with it to try and rescue it, it’s been at my family’s flower shop so i’m not sure what the watering schedule looks like. as far as i know it also hasn’t been getting much direct sunlight

I think it’s definitely salvageable. Check the roots and maybe try splitting it up into two smaller pots, that way you can test different methods to rehab them and see which one works best without risking killing all the plant. Looks to be a tradescantia, and they’re fast propagators in water, so worst case scenario, trim what’s healthy off and try to propagate it. Hope this helps!

i thought it was a callisia repens! thank you, we have a plant girl that comes down and to me it looks like she took a bunch of cuttings and stuck them in the dirt. i’ll definitely try that though, thank you!

It’s possible it’s a repens. They’re actually very similar in leaf patterns 😬 I‘m leaning towards tradescantia, but here’s two IDs for it so you can compare it to your plant to confirm. https://links.getplanta.com/pu8V Check out Fantasy venice and its care instructions in the Planta app. https://links.getplanta.com/UWfV Check out Tradescantia and its care instructions in the Planta app.

that’s what i thought! i actually really wanted this plant when we first got it in, i asked about it today and they said it was sold or we threw it away, i ended up finding it and they said i could take it home!

I would just start over. take some cuttings and start with a smaller pot. these are very good at spreading but i’m betting this pot is full of old roots

yep, you are 100% right about that, almost none of those stems were actually in the dirt when i pulled them out. i have some clear nursery pots at home that i’m gonna use, luckily most of these look healthy enough to use
