Is the soil damp?
1 gillait is pretty dry right now, last watered on 5/20
0 gillningarLooks like too much water unfortunately. Does it have drainage holes? What kind of soil?
1 gillait is the nursery pot with good drainage, but not sure on the soil. I was watering it too often at first, but have been waiting until its fully dry in between for about 6-8 weeks, so its interesting that it is getting worse now.. the soil seems to be growing white fuzz
0 gillningarHmmm, is there any airflow? Could be the wrong dirt, stagnant air, way too big of a pot for their root system, or still watering too often. Waiting until the dirt dries out is a great start, but you actually need to wait until the turtles closer to the roots can be folded, not completely but kinda like a taco. If you are watering before that, then the dirt is probably staying wet because the plant can’t suck up any more water. So that would cause the mold and the rotting plant issue.
1 gillathat is such a great tip! i didn’t know to look for folding!
0 gillningarYeahhh, I’d go with what Succulent Mama said, overwatered at first, probably just root rot that didn’t go away with letting it dry out, the white fuzz is probably mold from too much moisture, I’d repot in terracotta and salvage as much of the root system as you can
1 gillaYes, and while you’re repotting, please check how big the remaining roots are, you only need a pot the size of the roots, so it can actually suck up all the water. You treat them like a succulent. Terracotta is great for helping the dirt dry out better.
3 gillningarokay, i will definitely try terracotta!
0 gillningarMost string of whatever plants like to be watered from underneath. I sit mine in a container of water for like 10-15 mins or so.. every couple weeks. Works wonders. Learned that from a lady whose garden was overflowing with all kinds of plants.
0 gillningarwow—yours are flourishing! that’s a great tip
1 gillaYou can still save it. Transfer to smaller pot. Make sure it’s in well light area so soil can dry. Put a big cup upside down on it to create some humidity for a day and see if that helps.
