As of lately, I’m seeing more yellow leaves than usual. The plant is in a self watering pot. I usually water once a week , about 20 oz. The plant is five years old.

I think of plants as having an appetite when it comes to feeding them. We drink water when we’re thirsty and when we do, we drink enough to quench our thirst. Those amounts differ from person to person. I treat my plants the same way. I water my plants when they are thirsty and I water until I see water pour out the bottom. Depending on the plant, I’ll water when it feels light or when I see the leaves droop slightly. For some props, I have a mental note that they dry out about every three days. It really just depends on the plant. I said all that to say, the yellowing could be telling you there’s a watering imbalance. The plant may be too wet or not wet enough. It could also be shock from the repotting process.

Union LeoWatering once a week in a self-watering pot may be too much. I would recommend waiting to water until the leaves seem to droop.

Thank you for your response. I will consider that the plant has not been repotted for almost 2 years and that could be the problem. I’m hoping it’s not root bound.

PlantingsherryIt’s obviously been happy with you for a long time, but it does look like it might be overwatered and I should know because that’s how I kill most of my plants that die. Now I use cheap moisture indicators from Amazon. It cost about five dollars each and they’ll tell you when the soil is dry.

Update: I repotted the plant. It was so root bound! This is the third time the plant has been repotted. Thanks to everyone for your help.😻
