      I think I would treat it once a week for a month or two. Unless you use a systemic. Sometimes the scale remains stuck to the stem even after it's dead so you need to be brushing them off also.

    I believe you can spot remove the bugs using rubbing alcohol and either a cotton swab or cotton ball. I would also treat with horticultural oil or Captain Jack’s pesticide like KJM said, to be sure to get them all.

      if I use a 70% concentration of rubbing alcohol can I just straight spray it on the leaves?

      I’ve never done that myself. I’ve mostly used it as a spot treatment. I do know people will do that as a treatment, I also know some people dilute it with water and use that to spray the plant. I would check YouTube or Google for more details on the % and such. Either way you’ll want to spray the whole plant, leaves ( front and back) & stems, and definitely keep it out of the sun till it dries.
