The one at the top of the picture makes me think to much light but maybe also over watering

0 LikesHi there, my first thought is root rot - this happens when the soil around the roots is too wet (eg because it was watered before the soil had adequately dried out). Bacteria that thrive in anaerobic (no oxygen) conditions can then take hold. I would check the roots of the plant by my gently removing it from the pot. If there’s anything brown or mushy or smelly, those roots can be cut off with clean snips. I would then repot into fresh soil mix to avoid reintroducing the same bacteria back into the new soil. If you’re using soil, there are some great recipes easily found on google for aroids that the satin pothos would be happy in. But depending on your plant parent confidence/ level of effort/ money sich, at the very least I always use about 80% potting mix with about 20% perlite. Perlite adds aeration into the soil really well and is a great way to ensure the roots get oxygen. And if you’re going to reuse the pot, clean it REALLY well first. I usually use a fresh pot and then clean the old pot later. The bacteria will stick around in the old pot which is why I don’t reuse it without cleaning it. Just to give your plant the best chance of recovery. If the roots are fine, it could still be that the watering is occurring too frequently. So letting the plant dry out more between waterings and not leaving it in a tray or outer out that collects water is important. Let me know if you have any questions! 🌿🌿🌿
1 LikeOh and another tip for prevention of root rot: when you water, take the inner pot (which is then in placed into the outer decorative pot from what I can see in your photo) over to the sink/ bathtub/ shower/ large container and give the plant a thorough watering. Make sure all the water drips out of the drainage holes - I sometimes put a drying rack at the sink and observe as the water drips out. Once the dripping has stopped, I place it back into the outer pot. If your hey a watering notification through the app, with a more aerated soil it’s much easier to gently stick your finger into the pot to see if the soil is still wet or it’s dried out - with satin pothos you’re not aiming for the soil to be bone dry. Slightly cool, slightly moist but more dry is good (bad description sorry!). Repeat the watering at this stage and if it’s clearly not ready, snooze the notification on the app. Hopefully that’s helpful :)
