Hi there, I’m helping my co-worker revive his bamboo plant. Last picture shows what it looked like when I first got it- all yellow leaves, stalks, etc. I’ve since removed all the yellow leaves, took it out of the original pot and saw that all the roots were orange and kindda smelly. I removed all the roots, kept the green stems and then I removed all the remaining yellow leaves around. I separated the stems, cleaned the rocks in came in and put in a new jar with clean water. Is there anything else that I can do to make sure I can revive this poor baby? 🎋 Appreciate any help or insights, thank you!!

are you using tap water or purified water? sometimes the minerals in tap water can harm the plant! Also, since the roots are orange and a bit stinky, I would put a little bit of peroxide on the roots to disinfect them in case of rotting or infection! :)) otherwise you’re doing great!

Orange roots on lucky bamboo are 100% normal. That’s the way they are supposed to look.

I’m just learning that now too, and kindda kicking myself for trimming them all out. I was concerned that they smelled a bit so I thought they were root rot. I hope the new, shorter stalks would still root.
