I noticed recently that my prayer plant has a relatively minor case of mealy bugs. I first found the webbing, and then picked off the (extremely small) mealy bugs I could find. I ended up cutting a large part of her leaves off (not pictured here), but I’m wondering if there is anything else I could do to eradicate them? I have been spraying with an insecticide (plant-safe), but I really don’t want them to come back. :/ It is already separated from my other plants.

Well if your seeing webbing then it isn’t mealy bugs you probably have spider mites so I’ve heard a lot of people use neem oil but if your seeing just the fuzzy white dots then it’s mealy bugs and you can use alcohol directly on them to kill them

Maybe webbing isn’t the correct word — mealy bugs leave a sticky white residue that is similar to cotton. That’s what I meant!

If it is mealy bugs, rubbing alcohol on a q tip to smoosh the bug. You can make a mix of this and water and spray plant. Neem oil also works but be sure to do it at night so the plant won’t burn

Using neem oil (didn’t think about the tip about doing it at night though — thanks for that!!), been killing the ones I see with the q top and rubbing alcohol, but just was curious if there was anything else I could do. I did have to shower it quite a bit (literally in my shower lol) with water so I was considering repotting with drier soil so it doesn’t get root rot. I haven’t seen any new ones today so fingers crossed 🤞

I would regularly check it and spray it with an alcohol water mix just to be safe
