Hi-I’m new to the world of plants. I bought this parlor palm about a month ago on Facebook Marketplace. I’ve watered it twice since - the first time 24 oz of water a few days after repotting (which occurred the week I got it) and the second time a few days ago I watered till I saw a few drops of water through the drain hole. My moisture meter says it’s still damp/appropriately watered deep down. I’ve had a number of stems turns yellow/brown - i cut a few off and you can see others that have just turned yellow. I bought a grow light a week ago because I was afraid my plant wasn’t getting enough sun. Nonetheless, I’m still having problems. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Have you checked for pests yet just to be sure? I’ve heard palms can be prone to them. Generally speaking, when I have browning and yellowing that’s often a sign of overwatering. If the soil is still wet, if the leaves or stems feel soft at all, that’s probably a good confirmation. If so you’ll need to take it out of the soil to treat for root rot, repot into a chunky/well draining soil mix, and then reduce the watering frequency. From what I understand, parlor palms are sensitive to overwatering and pretty drought tolerant, so you could probably let the soil dry out at least 50%-75% before watering.

My palm is quite big and by a heater vent so it dies out very quick. I water every seven days. Use a wooden dowel to test moisture. I also use a humidifier for the dryness of winter.

They also murder the youngest leaves to push out new ones so take a look at how healthy the spear is

The spear looks healthy and, like you mentioned, the youngest/smallest leaves are the ones dying. I’ve been spraying it with water every few days ago in addition to my regular watering schedule.

Mine took a bit before an obvious need leaf was coming in. I like to put lavender in my spray bottles to help prevent pests. You can use other preventative essential oils too.
