The plant will shed its older leaves as new ones grow. My cherry tomatoes does this too and it is producing a lot of fruit

Pale, yellow leaves and slightly purple stems are stress signs from nutrient deficiency. most likely because there are too many plants sharing one small pot. It’s also a bit late to start tomatoes in Michigan in August, since colder weather and less light are on the way. You can still separate them into their own pots and gradually move them indoors to a sunny window, or supplement with grow lights to keep them going.

i know i'm a little late, but i agree with nutrient deficiency. also, tomatoes like their soil just a teeny bit acidic. you can mix citrus soil with compost and it'll be very happy!
