I got this umbrella tree in May and has slowly died. Is there any hope for it now?

i have zero experience or knowledge of caring for this plant, but generally to check if a plant is save-able, check the roots! if they look healthy and alive, maybe there is hope and you can move on to the next step of reviving it (i'm sure someone else who knows more can help you if it can be saved)

With a sterilized cutter, cut a very small section near the base on the trunk (kinda shave the bark away). If you see green, you can save it. If it's brown and dry all the way through, it's dead. If you see signs of life, be consistent about watering to care for the roots (keeping in mind that it won't use water as much because it has no leaves to photosynthesize with. It won't need water often.) If it manages to send up new leaves, be EXTREMELY gentle with them and make sure they get appropriate light.

This! I’m currently doing this with my money tree lol. If you find some green after scraping lightly you want to make an angled cut with STERLIZED scissors/shears. The cut should be a bit below where the green tissue seems to start on the plant. Ideally, you want a node on your cutling. After that, you can dust the cut edge with cinnamon(anti-fungal) or just let it dry overnight. After this i recommend a humidity dome or a bootleg one using a ziploc bag. make sure the dome has holes so there is airflow. Also, be sure to not let condensation form in the dome. (Atleast not at first lol) You want to change the water every few days at first. Remember it takes time, and roots will form before anything up top does! Happy planting🐸❤️

If the trunk is white, is it dead too? Even if it still has roots?
