I might never buy another plant at Lowe’s on clearance. If I could tell you the grief this girl has given me from day 1 bringing her home! I will just summarize: fungus gnats. Treatment. Fungus gnats. Treatment. Repot. Fungus gnats gone. Black tips on leaves. Waiting and waiting for rebound. Waiting. Waiting. Black tips on leaves. Maybe there is root rot? Maybe her pt was too big? Take out of pot. Bingo root rot. Wash away root rot. Repot in smaller pot and put in my shaded patio for outdoor recovery. Went into shock immediately the next morning. All her leaves fell and have not picked back up. It’s been one week. đŸ„șđŸ˜©đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™€ïž do I cut all her leaves off now or just keep waiting? Third photo was the day I repotted her. She looked better then she does now. She seems intent on this suicide pact she made once she was placed on clearance in Lowe’s.

    I went through a similar situation. It took a very long time for mine to recover but she did and it looks great now. Some of her older leaves are still curled but the new ones are perfect!

    Sometimes the hardest part of having plants is leaving them alone. Shock is one of those things where all you can do is meet their needs while they bounce back. You can't snap your fingers and fix it. The more you interfere, the more she stresses. Like imagine if someone kept making you shower and change around rooms while you're sick. The first one was nice, but you're still sick. And now you have to do a bunch more??? And you're still sick??? She's gotta rest too đŸ«Ą

    She looks like she'll recover well. Just give her rest. If you want to do something, play some music or thunderstorm ambience for her; plants love sound

      I love this. She’s outside right now on my shaded patio. When I’m outside I don’t listen to music, I like to hear the out door sounds. But I’m going to start playing a light bit of music when I’m outside to lift her spirits a bit. Thank you!!

    But Lowe’s has such an amazing selection! I’ve noticed that they always come with soil that’s like mud and they use self watering so it’s soaking wet and there is often root rot. So I repot them right away into a chunky solution and I pull away their rotten roots and yeah they do suffer before they recover and do okay. But I cannot quit them! Every time I go, they’ve got a plant that I don’t have yet.

      💚 I think I will do that going forward too. Just repot immediately when I bring them home. And yes she was in a self watering pot when I brought her home! Sheesh that was so much trouble.
