My friend gave me this pup off of her huge aloe plant 2 months ago. It has started to form these strange brown spots on the tips of a few leaves, and turn slightly purple in some other areas. I was wondering if I could be overwatering it? I’ve been only doing so when Planta tells me to and the soil is dry. So in summary, what are these brown spots and what am I doing wrong? Thanks!

That soil doesn’t look like a well-draining soil, aloe are similar to succulents in that they don’t need to stay wet for long. Even though you’re waiting until it’s completely dry to water, it might still be staying moist for too long. Other than that, I’m not sure.

Thanks! I am using cactus soil since I saw it as the best draining online, but do you have any other soil recommendations?

Oh okay, from the picture it looked very fluffy with little to no amendments so I assumed it was moisture retentive
