Help!! 😭😭 I bought this beautiful silver sword philodendron over the weekend and it was so healthy but unfortunately I had to run an errand and left it in the car for 15 minutes in the heat and it killed one leaf and caused damage to the others. I gave it some time for the leaves to rest and it the others improved except for the one that is clearly dead. My question is, do I chop any of this off? And if so, where? Or do I let it do its thing and see what happens?

I also have a juvenile silver sword and my experience with it has been SLOW. I would cut the dead leaf, leave the burned one for now, and keep conditions consistent. A big North or East facing window is best, west works too, avoid south. (Looks like you might be using a grow light so that should be fine.) I put mine on a moss pole and it seems to be glad for that. But this thing is SLOW and doesn’t like changes

Thank you so much! Do I cut right at the bottom of the leaf? Unfortunately I don’t have many windows in my apartment so it’ll be under the grow light near a window receiving little natural light so I’m hoping the grow light will be enough!

yeah right at the bottom — that dead it will drop on its own soon too

Mine is slow too! It’s also way more dramatic about watering compared to my other philos. If I wait 30 seconds too long to water it, the leaves get super droopy. They’ll perk back up once I water it though.

I haven’t had any issues with drooping but it like…grows so unbelievably slowly and the last leaf is so much smaller than the one before it but it’s dead center of my west facing bay window. Nothing funny happening with the roots — I have it in a coco chunk heavy aroid mix. I’m waiting for the next leaf and if it’s not back on track idk I might throw it away 😂 she’s not sparking joy

Do the other leaves also have some discoloration on them? From the pictures it looks like they do

yeah it looks like they all got burned, but she can’t cut them all off 🤷

I only ask because it looks so sickly - maybe it was sick when she purchased it?

Some of them did get some discoloration on that wasn’t there when I bought it so I’m assuming it was from leaving it in the car

I have one that put out 2 leaves in the last 8 months. I’m surprised it’s alive with such a slow growth rate. It doesn’t act like the rest of my philodendrons.

I just thought I had not found the right spot for it.
