Looking for some insight as to why this happened to hopefully avoid in the future. My dad had this plant outside constantly until he gave it to me to save. As soon as I brought it home, I left it outside in an indirect sunlight area and it seemed okay but the leaves were dark and seemed a little unhappy. I was convinced it wouldn’t survive. He wanted the pot back so once the weather started changing I decided to repot it and check the roots. Roots seemed fine and I even found a corm down in the soil which I removed and put in its own pot for propagation. After repotting it and moving it inside, the original leaves continued to brown but were also growing new and healthy leaves. The dark leaves in the picture are the leaves it had when he had it and the bright green ones are the new growth. Is this normal? It’s almost an entire new plant and the old leaves are slowly dying off.

    Yes it looks normal. Wait until the new leaves have hardened off and matured, they will darken.

    I have a colocasia that looks a lot like this. It wants a ton of humidity or the leaf-edges will curl and brown. If yours is also a colocasia, it should be pretty resilient. They do like a lot of light to get the darker leaf color, and they don't even need to drain well... They're able to grow in pretty wet conditions. It'll probably be fine. Mine has spider mites, which sucks, but it's still truckin.
