Hello - can anyone advise on what this mold/spores looking thing is on top of the soil. Plants are generally healthy and growing but this seems weird Any ideas?

thats just mold collecting in the top layer of soil and there could be one of two reasons for this: 1. the place they're kept in is very humid and the top layer of soil can't dry out properly, or 2. the soil is too compacted and the moisture can't escape properly. overall its not harmful to your plants, they can start to smell and look overall unappealing. i'd advise moving them to a less humid area, maybe try putting some pebbles (like fish tank gravel) in with the compost to help make the pot less compacted, and try bottom feeding the plants (put them in a bowl or bucket, something that can hold water, for around 30 minutes). hope this helps!
2 LikesThanks! Could trapped moisture be due to the pot being too small for the size/growth of plant?
0 Likesnot necessarily it could just be that the soil doesn't allow for proper drainage:)
0 Likesadd some cinnamon into your soil! i'd recommend scooping out as much of the mold as you can, sprinkling cinnamon onto the soil, & then using something to mix it into the top layer of soil! cinnamon has anti fungal properties so it works!
1 LikeNice! Will give it a go thanks
1 LikeMold spores can come with the potting mix or be brought in. It can be all through the soil. It feeds off the organic matter in the soil. A commercial fungicide can kill it. Let the soil dry more between watering.
