Spider mites are going to be the death of me. 😭 For anyone needing help, Castile soap and water is a lovely way to rid them but you have to be consistent in treating your plants regularly. I’ve also learned that humidity is a huge factor, if it’s too dry they love it, they can also get through extremely tiny spaces and fly through the air. Now I’m off to the home improvement store for door insulators to try and mitigate that aspect. 🫠 Everytime I get them under control I slack on my soap spray duties and I get an infested plant.

Have you tried 70% alcohol spray? I also heard horticultural oil works well.

Have you done this before, does it work? Cuz I'm dealing with a palm thats infested and insecticidal soap and other store bought sprays aren't doing the trick.

I have and most plants I’ve used it with haven’t had issues. It evaporates quickly and I sometimes shower/wipe the plant down afterwards. You can dilute it with water to test it out. Don’t spray on flowers and don’t drench the soil. I’ve had plants sensitive to neem oil (burro’s tail). You just have to wait until the plant is completely dry before exposing it to the sun.

I did alcohol, neem, and peppermint castile (all separate times) sprays on a friend’s cat palm for spider mites infestation without issues.

Yeah I have issues with them in an off but it has seemed worse since it’s gotten colder due to not being able to keep the humidity at a good level.

Predatory mites could be a good option for you

What’s the process for these and what kinds?

I order usually from koppert direct, natural enemies, or Arbico. You can research which is best based on which pest you have. Theres often a nematode for the soil as well as a mite for adults. And some like different temps. I'd say the predatory mite A. californicus is probably the most common. Then you spread the inoculated vermiculite
