    I’m not familiar with growing collards so I don’t know the exact cause, but that is definitely insect chewing on it, although I have no idea what kind of insect but it is most definitely insects! Sorry that I’m not more help!

    Based on the damage, the most likely culprits would be beetles or caterpillars. General use pesticides would work. If you want to avoid pesticides, planting anything in the carrot/dill family nearby will attract beneficial wasps

    Caterpillars. Brassicas attract them like crazy. When I grew Kale, they would just devour the leaves.
