I’m going to assume firstly that this is just a case of the winter blues that everyone is seemingly getting hit with :) but I’m getting a little worried about my two plants: ZZ plant: Had a few new shoots pop up about 3 months ago, they were doing alright, nothing surprising. Until about 3 weeks ago when the shoots started curling up and shrivelling. There’s been no change to the watering schedule and I’ve kept them in the same place that they thrived in sooo I’m unsure what’s going on🥹 Dragon tree: Had no issue up until about a week and a half ago when all of a sudden I’ve had an avalanche of yellow leaves dropping from my plant. Completely in the dark with this but I’m assuming inconstant temperature is the culprit (heating and cooling of my room due to radiator being more active now) Any thoughts??🌚

the larger photo of your Zz shows yellow leaf tips which can indicate overwatering. Zz is native to extremely dry environments— dry air, dry soil — and want to rely heavily on their rhizomes for water. I water mine every 3-4 weeks in summer, and even less in the winter. Not sure what happened with the new shoots…at first glance I thought they were just spent sheaths but if they were new leaves that went brown 🤔

Apologies, I think half of them are spent sheaths, and half are new leaves that dried out. It just seems like the new shoots are just being strangled before they spring up :(

I find my dragon tree does it every year. Sheds tons of leaves all at once and then doesn’t happen again until the next year. Grows extremely well throughout the year. Double check soil moisture before watering next time I’ve had to adjust and water less frequently with the shorter days :)

Ahh got it, so it’s most likely an annual thing. I’ll keep an eye out for the moisture level in the soil throughout winter then🫡 appreciate it!
