my wild bergamot is being destroyed by some kind of pest. possibly snails because i've found some around the plants before, but i haven't seen them recently so i really don't know. i tried putting salt around it late last night, clearly not thinking clearly, bc it just damaged the railing lol. does anyone have any tips? i'm pretty much preparing myself emotionally at this point for it to not make it.

One thing I’ve read to deter snails and slugs is putting up a conductive copper wire around your plant so that they can’t reach the plant without touching the wire. This can be tricky for certain areas though because if the wire rusts it will not be conductive and won’t deter them.

i’ve also heard that some people put alcohol in ground-accessible containers (relative to a bug) next to their plants. the snails drink it overnight, get drunk, and you can dispose of the snails in the morning
