I just replanted this basil from the grocery store about three weeks ago and am getting discolored leaves. Anyone have any ideas what this is or how to fix it?

The pot is too big. The new pot should only be 1 inch wider than the previous pot to avoid overwatering and root rot from the soil holding more water than the plant can use. The leaves look like root rot. Check by the roots. Cut the rot, if any. Sterilize with hydrogen peroxide and replace the soil. The plant is too low in the pot. It should be about 1/2 inch from the rim of the pot. Too low means airflow could be blocked. The soil could take longer to dry out leading to root rot. The pale color could be low fertilizer, overwatering, low light or a combination of all three. Fertilize with diluted fertilizer. Gradually move it to get accustomed to full direct sunlight or have it 12 hours/day under a grow light. Water only when the soil almost completely dries out in its smaller new pot. 🍀🪴
2 LikesAlways good advice, said what I was going to and more. You should write a book Sunny lol
1 LikeThank you. I sacrificed a lot of plants. I’m not qualified to write a book.😅 I’ve grown several basils including Asian basils, my favorite.
1 LikeOf course! That’s where knowledge comes from though, trial and error till you get it right lol 😂 oooo those sound so good, Asian basils are on a whole other level 👌🏼
