I’ve seen a lot of recommendations on systemic pellets for fungus gnats so I recently purchased some from a garden center that’s closing (yay for plant sales haha). I have been patiently waiting for my plants to begin to dry out so I can water them with the pellets, however after reading the directions on the bottle I’m more than confused. Are they water soluble & am I supposed to give at watering time? Or do I bury a few under the first few inches of soil then water? *picture of the product purchased

I haven't used this brand. The one I use is already liquid. The granules i use i just sprinkle on top and water them in. I think it says burying them in a 1/2 inch. But I literally sprinkle and water. If the soil is not as porous, I stick a gloved finger in and swirl it around a bit to bury them.

This one says like 1-2 inches but in my 3” pots , that’s way down there with the roots. & because of that I’ve been hesitant to use them. Do these have the possibility to “burn” roots like fertilizer does ? I have quite a few plants with sentimental value & im worried about losing them. However I’m tired of the little gnats!

I've never had any burn issues with the ones I use. You could always try it on a few or with less first. The other option would be nematodes SF, which definitely wouldn't cause any issues.

System granules are poisons ☠️ ☢️ that are toxic to pests, the environment and humans. They cause cancer and can be absorbed through the skin if touched or if the dust is inhaled. You have to completely read and follow the label instructions to avoid contamination including wearing professional protective equipment including pro level goggles, masks (not the medical masks) and gloves. The manufacturer recommends calling Poison Control if it gets on clothes or skin. That’s after flushing the skin area for 15-20 minutes with water! They cannot be rinsed into drains or washed into gutters. They cannot be tossed into the trash because they are highly toxic substances. They have to be taken to a Toxic Waste Disposal Facility that accepts insecticides, old paints, motor oil, propane, and similar hazardous chemicals. ☢️ You cannot induce vomiting if swallowed by a child or pet!! I never bring these poisons into my home because they are deadly and a pain to properly dispose of them. It’s not worth it for me. I recommend reading the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) that clearly describes the risks. Just Google the name of the product and add “MSDS” to the search query. Good luck.🍀
