Please help. The beautiful part of this Thai Monstera is brown.
Was it close to a grow light or in direct sun? It looks like just the white part of the leaf so it could be from a burn maybe?
2 gillningarI donât have this one under a grow light. Itâs about 5 feet away from a window and gets very indirect light. Do you think it needs more light? My monstera deliciosa is doing great with very similar light conditions The Thai thatâs browning is in soil is very âchunkyâ with bits of bark in it as well as perlite (potted at the nursery) so itâs difficult to tell when the soil is dry.
0 gillningarHi đ Itâs bc of the variegation that this baby will require more light than your deliciosa. Since it has less green leaves to photosynthesize with and provide nutrients to the plant, youâll need it to be as bright as possible (and away from drafts/AC/heat vent). Think south or west facing window and not 5 ft away. Good luck!
0 gillningarPlanta AI once said that when there is a yellow line between the brown on the edge and the green of the leaf that it is from being too dry in between watering. And then it literally contradicted itself when I sent the same exact situation in a photo and it said it was probably too much water! Iâve also had to say too close to the grow light, and too far from the grow light all in one consultation. đ Itâs so frustrating but itâs usually one of those things and sometimes itâs very hard to tell what the causes exactly. I know I sound like a broken record, but I like to use moisture indicator sticks because I donât have to poke my finger in the plants every day to see how dry they are and theyâve been very reliable. đ good luck!
0 gillningarOh! What the first person said about maybe the white part burning⊠thatâs smart.
0 gillningarThis is a common issue with highly variegated plants. Usually happens after a stress situation. Could be something very mild such as moving to new location. At least thatâs the theories Iâve read. Silica supplement will help avoid this. It strengthens your plantâs cell walls. I use it and it does seem to help greatly.

Sometimes those white parts just dry out fast. Using a humidifier near the plant would help in addition to the above mentioned
