šŸ””Please help!!šŸ”” I got this big beautiful plant on NYE and, after 2 days in quarantine to make sure it was ok, I repotted it. The roots were healthy and everything looked fine. I rinsed it down and repotted it. I felt the pot it was in was a little big, especially since I took off some dead leaves and in the removal of old dirt and rinsing, some little roots broke off. I’m wondering if the pot I repotted it in is too small? It seemed appropriate for the root ball, but maybe wasn’t? I have 3 yellowing leaves now, and I know plants can go into shock after repotting, but I don’t want to lose any more leaves! 🫣😫 please help advise is this a normal transition and I should cut off the yellow leaves? Or repot into the original pot it came in? **in the last pic: the blue outer pot is the original pot it came in, the inside pot is the smaller size I repotted it in.

It may not be anything you did. If you had to remove dead leaves then these yellow leaves could just be a reaction to previous actions before you bought it. If the roots fit into the pot without jamming them, then you should be fine. I would wait and observe, Just a suggestion, I always avoid, is you are placing that plant way down into another planter. I always avoid doing anything like that because to me, it restricts air flow. Just my two cents and it may or may not be correct.

I appreciate the suggestion! I’ll take it out of the bigger pot.

Have you been keeping the soil too wet? These plants like to dry out a bit before watering them again. If you are letting it sit in water for longer than an hour or two it’s going to suffocate the roots and kill them and then cause root rot. I’d use a clear pot next time to be able to keep an eye on root health without disturbing the plant. TL/DR: check the roots!!!

I checked the roots when I repotted it a little over a week ago and they were fine and I watered it after repotting but haven’t watered since because Planta’s watering schedule hasn’t identified it as time yet. I checked the soil yesterday and it was fine.

I think you just sent it into shock. Not that I don't repot plants I get a fair amount. But diff can be sensitive, and disturbing the root ball enough you had roots breaking off as probably a lot for it, abd during acclimating. I would just truck on and not worry to much.
