I need help, no matter what I do this plant refuses to thrive. I thought spider plants were supposed to be super easy plants even for beginners, and I’m not even a beginner yet I’m still struggling EDIT: thank you to people helping out in the comments!!😊

Where do you have it located? And how often do you water it? When was the last time you repotted it?

Ok so the soil was dry so I watered it right before I took the pic, so the soil is soaking wet rn. Also the plant is on a shelf a few feet from a window, so I doubt light is a problem? It’s also located near an a/c unit wich is sometimes on. I did have it outside for a couple days but I brought it inside just today. Maybe it’s just the fact that the conditions keep changing?

you got it! it can adapt to pretty much whatever, probably even the AC unless it’s being blasted directly, but you gotta give it time. leave it on its shelf inside 😊

It looks pale. It could need more fertilizer and brighter indirect light. The plant looks under watered because the leaves are folded starting at the base. They fold to conserve water. There are many dry leaves, another indication it lacks water. I recommend putting it in one location and leaving it. Moving it too often stresses the plant. Spider plants can live several feet from a window. But, they thrive in at least 8 hours of bright indirect light. I recommend placing it closer to a window or adding a grow light. The green areas will darken. The white color will brighten. I recommend fertilizing it every two weeks in the warm growing season. I use 50% diluted Miracle Gro with SuperThrive liquid plant vitamins. I avoid repotting too often because spider plants like to be a bit pot bound. Their thick roots fills up a pot very quickly. 🍀🪴

I have mine in roughly half soil, half perlite, in a relatively small pot. I wait until the soil is completely dry before watering because these guys have thick roots that hold a lot of water. Mine gets direct sun in the morning and bright indirect sun throughout the day. Hope this helps!
