Hi my plant has some dark spots that have been appearing on the leaves, I follow a watering schedule, I have holes in the pot but I wonder what's causing them? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

I canât tell for sure but it looks like it might be thrips damage. Do you see thrips on the plant?
1 gillaNot that I've noticed but I'll keep an eye out

1 gillaI think you might have a case of edema, which seems to be pretty common with peperomias in my experience, especially in the colder months. Edema can happen when thereâs a change in humidity or temperature while the plantâs soil is wet (say, if you put it back in the windowsill in the winter after watering it, and the windowsill is cold because of the winter weather, or if itâs near an air vent that blows dry hot air on it). In cases of edema, you donât want to cut any of the affected leaves off until new âholesâ stop forming on new leaves, or it will only continue on new leaves. If you think it mightâve been exposed to an air vent, drafty window, or where it sits is colder or near a frequently opening door during the winter, you might want to try moving it to a new spot. I live in PA, so to prevent edema, I move my peperomias to grow lights and pull them from the windows so they keep getting light, but donât get cold. Another possible cause of edema could be that the soil isnât very well draining, so the soil takes more time to dry out, leaving it more vulnerable to edema if there is a change in the plantâs temperature or humidity in its current spot. I see you have a peperomia caperata, and those hate being repotted. Theyâre more prone to shock. If you donât want to risk the plant going through shock by trying to replace the soil, try adding some orchid bark and perlite around the current soil instead of removing its current soil, and consider moving it to a plastic pot with more drainage holes, then placing it in a cover pot that will keep it a little warmer in the winter. I know it might not look too great right now, but edema is not a death sentence for your plant, and wonât spread to other plants.
2 gillningarThank you, I'm in scotland and it's beside a windowsill so it's probably the cold. Thanks!
