i got this elephant ear (i think) about a month ago and it neon pothos at the bottom so i repotted them like 2 weeks ago and since my elephant ear has started drooping and turning yellow, i thought it was over watered at first so i let the soil try out and it’s only gotten worse. any tips ?

    It might be shock from repotting. Have you checked the roots or fertilized recently?

    Yes, transplant shock. Generally they are very thirsty plants. Fertilizer or root stimulator would be good.

    Elephant ear or alocasia I believe. I have several Alocasias doing same thing. Been dealing with it for many months and unable to figure out why. Much research and many suggestions but no definitive answers. And they don’t straighten up either. It’s a common problem.

      Alocasia and Colocasias are closely related and both referred to as elephant ears. I am not real clear on any differences in care or how to tell them apart but I found this online. Alcasias have waxy glands where the main vein splits into the primary lateral veins. Colocasias lack these glands.

    Most likely transplant shock. Alocasia and Colocasia can get dramatic with change. When the season changes from Autumn towards winter mine tend to pout, get yellow leaves sometimes, and they are very susceptible to salt damage that might be built up in soil or even water. If your Colocasia doesn’t improve in a couple of weeks check the roots. But when you transplanted them did you check their roots? I doubt that if they were good 2 weeks ago, that they suddenly began to rot. And I’d say shock. Remember, plants are resilient and they will bounce back from their little fits that they dramatically demonstrated. Patience and happy growing.
