Does anyone know what is going on with my dragon scale plant? The leaves are curling inward and I have a humidifier very close to it because it says that it needs high humidity but it’s getting worse every day so if anyone has any information that could help that would be amazing thank you!!

Have you used any chemicals like fertilizer and pest sprays? Too much fertilizer can cause yellowing. Some plants are sensitive to the chemicals like bug spray and to tap water. 🪴🍀

I suspect that the issue is at the root. While it can be normal with the older leaves to yellow, it is concerning when it is the full plant. I would personally check as alocasia can be prone to the roots dying off if allowed to be dry for too long between watering or stay too wet. The great news it that even if that is the case, you can trim the dead roots, as long as the bulb is not mushy, there is saving. If you decide to cut off the leaves eventually, just note that you should refrain from cutting the newest one all the way down as it might be growing a new one inside. I’ve personally restarted several ones this way. (Including the one pictured here) Lastly for all its worth, I believe your is not a dragon scale but a scalprum based on thickness, leaf shape and leaf pattern. They are slower grower but more resilient than dragon scale. Here is mine so you can compare

0 likes Oh no I’m so sorry, alocasias can be sneaky until it’s too late. Especially with everyone saying how fussy they can be, it’s kinda normalized that the leaves look not good after doing anything. Usually, if it isn’t the oldest leaf or a leaf that suffered some sort mechanical damage, I usually always go in thinking mode. (Which is usually me checking the roots) Worst case, I have peace of mind knowing that the issue is not the roots even if it causes slightly more damage in the process. Best case, I usually manage to save the bulb on time. And for what it’s worth, scalprum are not the easiest. The leaves are very taxing to maintain and the rooting process is very slow after any disturbances.
